-Warping and Weaving-

I had the privilege of studying in the Fibreshed Fieldschool organized by Emily Smith, inspired by Rebecca Burgess and organized through the Shumka Center at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. I was part of the Warping and Weaving cohort together with four other students, we studied in partnership with Macgee Cloth, a small mill on the Sunshine Coast.
We got the opportunity to individually design two blankets using a software called Fiberworks, later to be woven at the mill. Through this process the students we we able to gain knowledge of yarn weight calculations, local sourcing strategies and yarn structure.

Blanket One, cotton and wool, 80’’ x 80”
